Book By Book: Selected Psalms -- The book of Psalms is constructed and arranged in a brilliant way, and the sequence of Psalms covered in these programs is one of the most fascinating in the entire book. From Psalm 20 we are approaching the death of the Messiah, set out so powerfully in Psalm 22. We are taken through the Resurrection in Psalm 23 and the Ascension in Psalm 24. Psalm 25 expresses the sinner's confidence in the ascended Messiah, then from Psalm 26-31 we listen in to the Messiah's great prayers in His suffering. These are precious Psalms because we are listening to the only One who can really teach us to pray. The six programs covers selected chapters of Psalms as follows:

Book By Book: Esther -- The very fact that the Living God is not mentioned once in Esther might seem strange, but it is no accident. As we go through our daily lives we do not always see the provident hand of our heavenly Father. By the time we get to the end of the ancient story of Esther we will see that as children of the Living God we are always kept in His Almighty care. The book of Esther teaches us that the Living God is hard at work in all the complexities of our lives even though He rules from the throne-room in the invisible creation! Book By Book: II Corinthians -- The Corinthian church faced a terrible crisis with influential ‘leaders’ claiming to be powerful apostles. These ‘super apostles’ boasted about all kinds of spiritual experiences, speaking skill and financial power. In 2 Corinthians, Paul is forced to open up his life as never before in order to show the confused Corinthian saints what it really means to serve the church. The ten programs on two discs cover the 13 chapters of 2 Corinthians as follows:

Book By Book: James -- Unlike many New Testament letters, we know very little about the background of this letter. But the book challenges us with the most basic and essential realities of life, driving us to face up to the truth about following Jesus the Messiah. James gives us the truth without ornament and cuts through the kinds of excuses and delusions we often use.

The six 15-minute segments cover the five chapters of James as follows:

Includes optional English subtitles and 62-page guide.

Book By Book: Acts -- The book of Acts is the second volume of Luke's research. The first volume is an account of what Jesus began to do and this second volume is what Jesus continued to do after his ascension. Luke chose a narrow perspective, ignoring the spread of the gospel across North Africa or into the nations east of Jerusalem. What of the apostle Thomas in India or Thaddeus in Odessa? Whether Luke knew about these continuing works of Jesus or not, we cannot say, but what we do know is that Luke was a travelling companion with the apostle Paul. Luke wrote about the spread of the gospel to the nations that he was involved in. The apostles have a unique foundational place in that work, but the church today is also part of that ongoing work of Jesus. The apostle Paul became involved in an intense dispute about the place of foreigners in the people of God. We know that Paul found himself in a life or death struggle over the freedom of the nations of the world to be full members of the people of God through trusting Jesus. The Holy Spirit selected the lives of Peter and Paul to be recorded in the Bible in order to present the vital issues of global Christianity to the church in every age.

Ten 15-minute segments on two discs:
1. You will be my witnesses (1:1-26)
2. This is That (Ch. 2)
3. Enable your servants to speak your words (3:1-4:31)
4. They shared everything they had (4:32-7:60)
5. To the Gentiles (8:1-11:18)
6. The word of God continued to increase and spread (11:19-14:28)
7. That the Gentiles might hear (Ch. 15-16)
8. Another king called Jesus (Ch. 17-20)

10. Paul goes to Rome (25:13-28:31)

Featured guest is George Verwer, founder and former International Director of Operation Mobilization.
Includes optional English subtitles and 183-page guide.

Book By Book: Daniel -- The Book of Daniel shows us how to hold onto the reality of Christ in a world that we don't control, a world that is full of values and assumptions that are hostile to the ways of the Living God. He shows us how we keep our true identity as citizens of the everlasting Kingdom of Heaven when we are also citizens of earthly kingdoms that come and go. Daniel shows us how to work with integrity and excellence even when surrounded by colleagues who openly reject the Living God. The six programs cover the twelve chapters of Daniel as follows:

1: Praise be to the Name of God Forever
2: The Fourth Looks Like a Son of God
3: My God Sent His Angel
4: One Like the Son of Man
5: A Man Dressed in Linen
6: Great Prince who Protects your People.

Featured guest is Stephen Nichols, from London. He previously taught college history in south China and worked with international students at All Souls Church, London. He currently serves as a curate in Plymouth.

Book By Book: Joshua -- If we really are to understand why God allowed the events of the book of Joshua to happen, we need to approach the book in the full context of the whole Bible, understanding this special book in the way it was originally intended. The name “Joshua” is the Hebrew form of the name “Jesus,” meaning “The LORD is salvation.” If this book had simply been called “Jesus,” then the meaning of the book would have been much more obvious to all the readers down the generations. It is a book about a man called Jesus defeating the enemies of the LORD God and bringing the Church into her Promised Land. It is an ancient prophecy about the work of Jesus of Nazareth, born some 1,400 years after Jesus son of Nun lived. The six programs cover the book of Joshua as follows:

1: Be Strong and Courageous
2: Crossing the Jordan
3: The Divine Commander’s First Victory
4. Judging the Nations
5. Inheriting the Promised Land
6. Planning for the Future

A 112-page study guide is included with the DVD. Featured guest is Sami Dagher, a pastor and president of the National Evangelical Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Lebanon and founder of the Christian Alliance Institute of Theology in Beirut.

Book By Book: Galatians -- The Galatians had enjoyed the incredible freedom that Jesus gives us. However, "religious" people had joined the Galatian fellowship, claiming to have deeper knowledge from the ancient Scriptures, claiming to have a bigger picture than the simple good news that they had heard. These new teachings were robbing the Galatians of their freedom and their confidence. They were falling into a kind of religious slavery, making them think more and more about their own religious efforts and leaving little room for Jesus. Paul was desperate to rescue the Galatians from this dreadful cult.

Galatians shows us that the answer is to be found in Jesus, the Messiah promised and hoped for since the beginning of the world. There is freedom in Him. All fleshly categories that constrain people are blown apart by His life, death and resurrection. When we come to Jesus we find the answer to all things. He is the hope and desire of the ages and nations.

Book By Book: Ephesians -- The book of Ephesians is the most thorough and wide-ranging account of what it means to be the Church, in the New Testament. The Ephesian Christians lived in the shadow of the massive temple to Artemis, as we read in Acts 19. That 'wonder of the ancient world' must have dominated not only the skyline but also the thinking of the city. Ephesus was a city full of spiritual darkness and occult power. The Church was the oasis of sanity in that pagan chaos and confusion, the place where the truth of Jesus was lived and taught. The church caused a profound social revolution. Paul's letter to the Ephesians will take us down into the heart of our lives together in the local church. Do we provoke crises or revolutions in our own towns and cities because of the way we live together? Why is it so important to be part of a local church? How is the local church the answer to the social problems of the world? Why is it the proper context for our marriages, families and careers? Why is the church the very center of the universe?

Job is constantly accused by his friends of sin or pride or selfishness. Book By Book: Amos

The book of Amos is the Old Testament version of the letter to the Laodicean church of Revelation chapter 3. The church in Israel at the time of Amos, just as the church of Laodicea, had become just like the surrounding culture—lukewarm, living in luxury, complacent in 'religion'. The book of Amos warns us at the very beginning that an earthquake was just two years away. The only real security and future was in trusting the LORD God. The six programs cover the book of Amos as follows: 1. The Lord Roars (1:1-2:5); 2. "I will punish you for all your sins." (2:6-4:5); 3. "Yet you did not return to me" (4:6-5:17); 4. Let Justice roll down (5:18-6:14); 5. Behold the days are coming (7:1-8:14); 6. In that day (9:1-15). Includes optional English subtitles. Includes 103-page guide.

Running Time: 90 min

Book By Book: Nahum

Nahum confronts us with the uncomfortable truth that the Living God is both full of goodness and full of anger. We might like a "well-behaved god; who doesn't get 'emotional' about evil and injustice, a god who indulges our sins and cleans up our mess without creating a scene. However, this jealous and avenging God of Nahum is the God whose tolerance of evil and passionate love is the only hope of the world.

Nahum reminds us that the Living God is not a human creation nor is He under human control. The Majestic and Infinite Eternal God of the Bible bursts all our neat categories and assumptions as He shines His glorious light of truth, love, righteousness, and justice into our darkness of deception, death, selfishness, and sin. Each segment is approximately 15 minutes.

Presenters are Gordon Bridger, Richard Bewes and Paul Blackham.

Running Time: 90 min

Book By Book: Revelation

The book of Revelation takes us to the very heart of all history, the heart of the universe itself where we find the LORD Jesus Christ sharing the throne with His Father, surrounded by the Holy Spirit. At the center of reality, behind all the apparent confusion and chaos of this passing age, the Living God rules through Jesus, the Lamb and Lion of God. Jesus and His Bride, the Church, are seated in heaven far above all the powers of this age, as we wait for that day of judgment and new creation. The ten programs cover the 22 chapters of Revelation as follows: Jesus, the Alpha and Omega (1:1-20), Jesus, the Ruler of God's creation (2:1-3:22), Jesus, the Lion and the Lamb (4:1-5:14), Jesus, the Lamb who opens the seals (6:1-7:17), Jesus and the Seven Trumpets (8:1-11:19), Jesus, slain before the creation (12:1-14:5), Jesus, treading the winepress (14:6-16:21), Jesus, Lord of lords, King of Kings (17:1-19:10), Jesus, the Triumphant Rider (19:11-20:15), Jesus, the Divine Bridegroom (21:1-22:21).
