| For years, this has been the most relied-on source for exhaustive Bible study. The unique chain-reference system gives you the "big picture" on 7,000 important topics by linking all the verses together right in the margins for quick referencing. Special features include: Two columns of chain references; Dictionary-style pronunciation of difficult words; Grammatical and translation notes at the bottom of each page; 78-feature library of up-to-date helps; Bible harmonies and illustrated studies; 73-page archaeological supplement with black and white photos; Hebrew calendar; Words of Christ in red; Concordance, Bible readings, character studies, chapter headings; Book outlines, summaries, and analyses; and Color maps. The Lockman Foundation of La Habra, California set out to produce the "Most technically accurate translation of the Bible possible." Partially because of their dissatisfaction with the RSV's version of the 1901 American Standard Version, the Lockman Foundation chose to use the best Greek and Hebrew texts available to revise the ASV. Though many conservative scholars consider this to be the most accurate translation available, because of the NAS's desire for technical accuracy it is not the most readable of the modern translations. |
