Marshall Stewart Ball is an extraordinary child able to touch people's hearts through his veil of silence. A developmentally challenged 13-year-old boy born with a host of disabilities, including the inability to walk or speak, Marshall is a constant source of inspiration and guidance for people in matters of the mind and heart. He shares his thoughts with the world in Kiss of God: The Wisdom of a Silent Child, a collection of his astonishingly inspiring writings.

It includes letters written to friends and family, answers to questions people asked Marshall in
person and several writings he composed for the sole purpose of teaching. The graceful and
remarkable words are filled with the purity of a young boy's spirit enhanced by the love in his
heart.

In addition to these beautiful and loving pieces of inspiration, Kiss of God contains
introductions to Marshall's writing that detail the circumstances under which he created each
piece. Marshall composed this piece after learning that a child in his third grade class, Ashley
Morgan, had died suddenly:

Marshall's communication skills are limited due to his lack of fine motor capabilities, so he
conveys his heartfelt feelings by pointing to letters on an alphabet board. His parents realized
early on that Marshall did not think like an average child, constantly writing of love,
knowledge, freedom and God. Marshall's mother, Troylyn noted, "Marshall is continually
showing his appreciation for his life no matter how difficult it seems to others. He challenges
us to upgrade our thinking and treatment of mankind, reminding us we can do these things
now."
