About the Illustrator
John J. and Karen L. Blumen are owners of a graphic arts studio in western Pennsylvania, where they live with their three children and two cats. Karen has served as director of Reading Is Fundamental programs in her community and has spent hundreds of hours promoting and nurturing a love of reading in children. John is an award-winning graphic designer and commercial artist. He has illustrated many other children's picture books, including John and Karen's first collaborative book project, One More River (Augsburg)
